MAF sensor delima.
MAF sensor delima.
Well i was installing my trick flow intake elbow and i noticed that one of the wires on my stock MAF sensor was broken. I soldered it back on but im sure thats not a good idea. I was wondering if i should just buy an aftermarket MAF sensor, either GMS or JET. I asked my dyno tuner and he said that he could just turn the MAF sensor off and tune it with the MAP sensor to save me a few bucks. He said it would run just as good maybe a tiny bit better. Is this possible or shopuld i just stick with a MAF sensor.
Re: MAF sensor delima.
Has anybody ever switched from a MAF tune to a MAP tune? How is it? Does it idle as smoothly? Is it as reliable? Is it as fuel efficient? And how are the WOT runs. I really have no idea what is involved here, so help me out.
Also my tuner said that he has no problem tuneing with an aftermarket MAF sensor so im thinking i can hopefully just find a cheap used GMS or JET MAF. I mean there is probably a reason GM switched from speed density in 93 to MAF sensors in 94. Let me know what you guys know/think.

Re: MAF sensor delima.
Well im going to have to replace my MAF sensor and my tuner says he can tune around a GMS so i figure since it outflows the stocker by 47% i will go that route if i can find one relatively cheap. Or somewhere i read that you can use a ZO6 (85mm?) one that is adapted to work with LT1's. If anybody knows anything about this let me know.
