Maf Bad???

This afternoon before I shut the MARO off I unpluggd the MAF to see if it was functioning correctly. I had recent problems with hard start issues as well as the engine shutting off almost immediately after it fires up. Once warmed up it runs with a miss but will not shut off. So anyways, I disconnected the MAF to see if I have any sudden changes. The engine still ran the same with no changes after disconnecting the MAF. I then plugged it back in while the engine is running and still no changes. Could my MAF be bad. I also have a SMALL tear on the elbow before it goes into the TB. Could this be the conclusion to my hard start troubles troubles?

Re: Maf Bad???

Try closing that tear with some duct tape and see if that helps your problem. Usually when you unplug the MAF, the motor will stall out or may stall hard for a second and recover... either way you should notice the change.

There is no change whatsoever when I disconnect the MAF. If I fix that tear, would the MAF respond when being disconnected while the engine running?

Re: Maf Bad???

I was thinking... When I disconnected my MAF while the engine is running there was no change. I still have my MAF disconnected. I noticed that when I went to start the engine this morning, it still gave me hard start however, the engine did not stall or shut off. In conclusion, I think that the MAF is functioning properly but the tear in the elbow is whats giving me problems. This may also be giving me a hard start. Correct me if I'm wrong.
