Mac's with offroad pipe vs with cat

I know i'm asking a bunch of questions about mac's but i'm very frustrated and need my car running.

I found a set of mac's with off-road pipe for 400 bucks. Is the off-road y-pipe the exact same thing as a the cat version except in place of the cat they include a piece of piping that bolts up? I just want to make sure i can just not use the piping and put a cat in it's place for emissions.

I think that was the idea behind it.

Alright i was just making sure it was two serperate pieces and not just one single piece. They call it an off-road y-pipe so that's what had me confused.

yep, the pipe just replaces the cat. so an off-road y-pipe is the same thing. i'm using and off road pipe now, that way I can throw the cat on there to pass the sniffer test....wish i lived where I didn't have to...

Blaze309 -- Is your '95 a dual cat or single cat car? It sounds like you're looking at the Mac y-pipe for a dual cat car and there is no provision on the y-pipe to bolt up cats, hence the "off-road". For the single cat cars, you get the headers, a y-pipe, and an adapter pipe end to weld on the exhisting cat after cutting it off the old y-pipe. A seperate "Off Road Pipe (ORP)" is available to bolt it in place of the cat. A Mac "Off Road Y-Pipe" is available for the 95-up dual cat cars as a cheaper alternative to the dual cat y-pipe but it completely replaces the original with no way to 'bolt in' the original cats.
