MAC slip on pipe....how did you guys get it on?

Almost done with my headers but the drivers side is tripping me up. I have the MAC mids and the slip on pipe is causing trouble. I cant seem to figure out how to get it on the headers. Ive gone this far without unbolting the steering shaft and Id like to keep it that way, but if I have to, then I have to. If I have to, how do I do it? Im only seeing one bolt at the top and it looks like if I can remove that then the two pieces should slip apart.

There are two bolts, one at the top and one at the bottom of the joint. My memory is hazy, but I'm pretty sure I removed them both and pulled the shaft up and out. Its not too difficult.

Hmm, did you already bolt up the rest of the drivers side headers? I don't think I could get the slip tube on if the rest was bolted up already.

I think I actually took some sand paper to the male end of the slip fit joint. I also put some ultracopper RTV on there and it helped it slip together. It's one of those things that will slide right together if the parts line up and nearly impossible otherwise. I didn't need to remove my steering shaft or oil filter. I did need a really freakin long socket extension, or a combination of them, to tighten the slip fit bolt once it was together.
