Because i didnt use any sort of sealant on the #1 primary header connection, i now have an exhaust leak. What would be the best way to go about fixing this? Can i just wrap a band clamp around it? It really is annoying even though it is very slight. The in car noise is just too loud. my friends Z has no exhaust leaks and you can tell, all the sound comes from the back. My cars exhaust just feels "sloppy". Along with a terrible ticking under load.
Best bet would be to fix it right. Remove the #1 primary tube, clean up the surfaces and add high temperature sealant to the tube surface (just enought to cover the slip joint). Then reassemble.
You mentioned wrapping a band clamp around the tube as a fix, do you have a clamp on there now? If not then you should. It would have came with the headers.
Hope this helps

Hey OFFSPRINGZ28. i have the same problem you do they didnt put the high tempsilcone on the first time just had them installed anyway i drove there and they took it apart and put the silcone it helped but i still have a slight leak my next thing that im going to try is a band type clamp if that doesnt work im having the shop just weld it up to SHUT IT UP
I had few problems when I installed mine with this also. I just fiddled with it until the mating surfaces were flush and equal all around, and torqued it down. I never used any silicone either. No leaky problems.
