MAC Headers Install Help
MAC Headers Install Help
Help!
I compared the AIR fittings on my MAC headers (bought them used on the board) to my original manifolds. In the stock manifold, the threaded portion is much shallower (maybe 1/2") with a lip at the bottom of the threads as opposed to the headers, in which the threads are much deeper and have no lip to tighten against.
Do I have to call MAC for some sort of adaptor or what? Hopefully someone has run into this and can help.
BTW, I bought single cat headers and my car is a 94.

Re: MAC Headers Install Help
I ran into this problem when installing my headers. You cant just screw in the AIR fittings into the headers. Because the fitting in the headers is deeper, the AIR fittings will have play and leak.
What I did was take the stock manifolds to ACE Hardware and found a washer that fit into the innder diameter of the air fitting. I got about 6 of them (3 for each side if I remember correctly), dropped them in my header AIR fittings and then attatched the system. The washers took up the excess space and that way my AIR fittings fit tightly and didnt eak.
You need to get a washer that fits tightly, so that when you place it in the header primary they wont fall through. I'd give what I did a try before calling Mac seeing my solution only cost me a buck or 2.
