Mac header Primary tube????

i have a header leak and i think it is coming from the primary slip tube on the mac headers. Does this exhaust leak hurt performance? Do you guys have any tips or tricks on how to tighten it b/c it is in a tight spot..what size wrench, etc.

Re: Mac header Primary tube????

the most it would do it might throw off the o2 sensors because exaust is escaping and the o2 sensor will get a false reading.... i have the same problem with mine.... i dont know how im gonna fix mine... probably wait till i pull the engine and weld it

I wouldn't weld it because thent you cant get your headers off without taking the steering knuckle off. I got rid of that cheap clamp that came with the mac's and got a U exaust clamp. It works much better.

Re: Mac header Primary tube????

I took some high temp RTV and put that on before I slipped them together for a seal, then I put a exhaust clamp on the primary and tightened it down really good. Been 2 years no leaks.
