Question M6 daily driver cam

Can anyone think of a better cam for a daily driven M6 with 3.42 gears than a CC305 or LT4 hot cam?

cc306/GM847 but it all depends on what you can handle driving all the time.

Depends on the rest of the set up - ported heads? headers?

Can you do your own programing?
How tolerent are you of cam surge?
How much are you willing to spend on the valve train?
What are your goals? drags, autocross, street only?
How concerned are you over fuel mileage?
Do you have emissions testing?
How high do you really want to rev?

You can toss in just about any cam people run here but give some thought to the overal goals and make a solid plan.

I have the 224/230 and my car is a daily driver during the spring and summer. The cc306 is a pretty big cam, and works great with ported heads. It all depends how big of a cam you want to go with.

I can't do programing but I realize it will be required to get the most out of what ever I choose.

I'm not really interested in the 306 or anything that big, teh power band goes to crap. I really like low end torque, and don't want to loose too much. Besides; big cams usually involve too much vavletrain work. I'm also interested in a cam that makes max torque around 4000-4400rpm and max power around 5600-6000 rpm.

My heads are stock but will be ported eventually. Nothing crazy, just pocket ported and clean up the ports.

Gas milliage is important and I really don't want to have to deal with cam surge. I like the 3.42 gears, I might go to 3.73. Not interested in anything bigger than that. The lower the gear ratio gets the weaker the gear set gets.

In the end, I think I can reach my power goals with a smaller cam. After porting the heads I'm only looking for 350-370 RWHP. Top that with a 100HP shot and I should be in the mid 11s.

I know you guys lovce big cams but I tend to be a bit on the conservative side.

I appreciate your ideas though.

I have tried the XE 224/230 and it is in my opinion too small of a cam for my application. I went with the 230/236 after that.

given your preferences, that hot cam kit would be a great deal for you - likely the best bang for the buck. You could spend a LOt more for a few more HP but it will do a nice job for ya.
