Lunati Pressure Fed Solid Roller Lifters
Lunati Pressure Fed Solid Roller Lifters
I'm putting together a solid roller setup for my 97 LTx and looking for a solid roller lifter that will handle 2-4K miles a year of street driving with the occasional stop and go Houston traffic and some weekend warrior duty. Looking to turn 6800-7000 RPMS. These were recommended to me and I wanted to get opinions from some of you. Anybody have experience with these? Does the direct pressure feed feature really help with street driving/idling?

Re: Lunati Pressure Fed Solid Roller Lifters
I've had good results with the Crower Severe Duty "Cutaway" solid rollers, with high pressure pin oilers. Car was daily driven for 2 years, maybe 20K miles, right after the engine was completed. That was 12 years ago, so maybe there's better technology available now.

Re: Lunati Pressure Fed Solid Roller Lifters
That's good to hear, Fred. I hear so much about daily driving a solid roller is a suicide mission that it's good to hear some actual evidence to the contrary. Did you have to do anything special to ensure the motor's life? How often did you have to adjust your setup?
I also heard good things about the Isky Redzones. Is that the ones you are talking about Machinist? From what I understand, they use a roller bearing instead of needle bearings, and I've read that when a needle bearing lifter goes south, it frags the needles everywhere and trashes the motor. Is there any truth to that?

Re: Lunati Pressure Fed Solid Roller Lifters
I've seen solid roller lifters with needle bearings go, and yea it pretty much trashed the engine. I read a few years ago of isky making the roller lifters with bronze or brass, not sure, bushings I think. I personally don't know anybody running them, but I like the idea of it. Theres no needles to go through the engine and won't turn it into a boat anchor. I'm wanting to say it was in Chevy high performance mag. Let us know what you find out, and use.
