LT's installed; how much should I pay for Y?

I finished installing Jet Hot LT's. I need a custom Y-pipe, I'm running two cats in parallel between the headers and the Y, and then an I pipe to the muffler. There are two places in northern Virginia that will do the job. One is booked 'til Jan 11 and the other wants $320 . The only other place that said they could do the job was Midas but the yellowbellies said they won't do it even though I'm running two cats because the setup will not be exactly the same as stock. I had an appointment Thursday with the $320 place but now that I've thought about it I would rather make a Y-pipe myself out of tinfoil than pay that much. What do you think is a fair price?

i paid ~600ish for my 3 inch y-pipe...that's with the cost of 2 brand new 3 inch cats...I'd say anywhere between 250-350 is about what you should expect to pay.

why didn't you get the Jet Hot y-pipe, along with the LT's? and get rid of the cats?

I want to run cats because I like the idea of having a clean car, also I've seen a lot of posts about the general Y pipe not matching up. As I see it, if it's $30 per hr labor and takes 6 hours (both high figures) that's $180, and if the parts are even the high cost of $100, that's still only a total of $280. After I've thought about it I think I'm just not going to pay more than $260. I was hoping for a couple of posts of people who got their y for $100 and where, or someone who had made their own.

you could make your own...just by a y pipe that works with long tubes...cut it up and slip in some carsound cats...only thing is you will run the risk of bad leaks...
