LT's-->dual e-cutouts-->stock catback

Is anyone out there running this set up. Longtubes with dual cutouts, y pipe, stock exhaust the rest of the way back? Im really thinking about it because I really want the car to be quite and not really noticable (keeps me out of the trouble) but when racing, wide open exhaust. I was thinking that for the price of a decent cat back, mangnaflow, i could pick up two e cut outs and keep the stock exhaust. It doesnt need to be preplaced, and is in good condition. True duals are out of the question. Ive tried it before, and ended up with it just dumping under the car which is not what i want. I have the exhaust holes in the rear of the bumper and it looks silly without tips. No one within an two hours of here that i found would touch the car without cats on it to weld up the exhaust and i cant do it my self. So anyone out there running this setup or something similar? chime in, give your opinions, hell post pics. Give me some advice.

Re: LT's-->dual e-cutouts-->stock catback

Im running pacesetter longtubes with their ory, a DMH electric cutout in the i-pipe, and the stock catback. Its nice when i open the cutout, still not as loud as a car with a catback and cutout, or a loudmouth because alot of the exhaust is still going through the stock catback, but it still sounds nice. I get compliments from 5.0 guys at the track. Then i flip the switch and its practically silent. Its nice haveing it quiet exhaust like when i come home real early in the morning or when you just want to think or talk to someone thats right next to you in the car, or when you want that sleeper feeling. Im going to miss haveing the stocker when i get duals or a catback.

With dual cutouts, although it would be louder and the coolness factor would be higher, it wouldnt really be benificial unless your makeing probably 400+ hp. Thats plus the cost and ground clearance loss would not be worth it in my opinion.

Even a stock catback would sound pretty good with longtubes and no cats IMO, not very loud, but a nice throaty powerful sound I would think.

Dual open cut-outs may just sound like the word is comming to an end, sounds like the best of both worlds if ya ask me

Back way in the day I had an LS1 ws6 catback on my car and when I put on my longtubes and o/r y-pipe it was raspy as hell, sounded like absolute ****. And the longtubes made it alot louder too, it wasn't a sleeper.

I may possible even put some type of tubed muffler in the i pipe to get some of the raspyness out of it as well. On my last car, I was running pacesetters, ory, hooker cat back. It isnt extremly loud but louder than what im wanting for this project. I think im just going to go with the original plan, and if its to raspy or loud with the cutouts closed, throw in some type of muffler in the i pipe.

Re: LT's-->dual e-cutouts-->stock catback

i was thinkin about pacesetter longtubes with dual e-cutouts right after the longtubes then with true duals that dump right before the axle....but i want to be able to remove the cutouts easily and replace them with small high flow cats for when emisisons come around...... it will be a nice true dual sound for cruisin then absolutly crazy loud at the track or at shows etc.... what do ua ll think? and how much would dual e-cutouts actually cost? i heard they r expensive if they r i mite just go with cheap manual ones....

Re: LT's-->dual e-cutouts-->stock catback

id say just buy 1 e-cutout in the i-pipe and save the rest of the $$ for some other mods. dont really need dual cutouts, and it sounds real quiet with the cutout closed. i had an OEM LS1 muffler and LT's, the sound was really quiet with the cutout closed. a friend didnt believe my car had anything done to it, cuz he said it sounded stock. opened the cutout and he was real suprised and didnt know what to say.

im considering selling my duals and going back to that setup once i get the bugs out of my new 355. kinda gets annoying having the car really loud all the time, and when you have a headache the sound just makes it worse. maybe next week i'll put the stock exhaust back on.
