Bunker,

I've got the same problem with my LTCC except my alternator isn't doing anything strange. The car will run fine (no red lights) until it warms up then I'll get the 3 blinking reds and low RPM stumble and misfires. The thing that doesn't make sense about your alternator solution is that the voltage that feed the ignition is a regulated 11.5-12 volts, it never sees full battery (alternator) voltage. I just installed the LTCC and had no problems with my Opti before the install so I'm very frustrated with this misfire (as you were).
Anyone got any suggestions?
I've emailed Bob but would like to solve this tonight (Ya right!)

i cant totally agree. who has a running system that has seen a difference? how many people run a car over 7k? you would have to have a fast computer for that. i just dont see the purpose. the downside are these problems and mounting the all the bs. not to mention the added 2 or 3 pounds

Well I bought the LTCC because I plan on going FI in the future and it will be a good ignition system to run on a FI setup. I had a Crane Hi-6 box on the car which came off as well as the stock coil & ignition module & much longer wires, so I dont think I picked much weight if any. But even if I did, so what, three pounds pffft. The car runs smoother and pulls harder up top than before.

bunker,
Sent some pics to you and Bob. (told him about your post)
Bob said he "ordered some processor chips that might help" so he's looking into it also.

Thanks

Where is that area? it may have a RFI that the LTCC isn't shielded against?

Its right by the driver's side fender by the fuse box, maybe those relays are screwing things up

Thats where mine is located, right beside the fuse box and it works fine.

Basicly I've tried forever with no help did these things:

Replaced alternator
relocated ltcc from that spot

works great now!

I have to go with the Alternator not the location, mine is located at the fuse box. No problems with mine.

does anyone know the amperage of a camaro/firebird alternator?? i know impala/caprice alts are 140 amp, i would tend to believe that the addition of LTCC w/ 8 coils will put a voltage strain on the system if the alt. isn't close to 140 or better. i haven't heard any impala owners have these problems with the LTCC, but they have bigger alts.

I believe the F-bodies have the same 140 amp alt. but the wiring is very inadequate. The gauge is so small I doubt it could handle 100 amps. This becomes a huge problem if you have a big stereo system. There's a guy named Gary Clark that sell wiring upgrades to address the issue. The upgrade makes a huge difference and is highly recommended even if you don't have a stereo system. Here's a link: www.geocities.com/sscruising@sbcglobal.net

I didn't consider the alternator being a problem because the voltages don't drop with RPM, but I guess that doesn't mean the current is adaquate. Mine is a 93 so only has the 120 amp alternator. I also have ASP underdrive pullies but have never had a problem with charging even with 400 watt stero cranking, AC on, a CSI waterpump and cooling fans at a stop sign at idle at night.... (did I forget anything?)

That asside, the problem isn't that the coils aren't firing due to lack of curent/voltage, but because the LTCC doesn't think it has a good signal from the Opti. (3 blink=Wrong number of Hi-Res pulses counted during a High Lo-Res pulse or Low Lo-Res Pulse)

I think I remeber a post somewhere that mentioned problems with electric waterpumps interfering with the signal on the DELTEQ system but I'm not sure, maybe I'll chase that down..
