LT4 Valve cover question.

Are all LT4 valve covers exactly the same? I have a guy selling two LT4 valve covers that both have oil filler holes in them. He said that they are from a boat application. Should I pick them up? Is it possible that he bought two passenger side covers to fit his application? I just need to know if they have ever made composite LT4 covers that did not have the notch for the altenator. Thanks for any and all help.

i think theyll fit on either side, but the passenger side came with a hole for the pcv and the other had a breather/oil fill cap, so youd need either another cap/breather and something to plug that pcv hole

do you have pictures of them?

They will look off if you do pick them up. If you look closely, the indentation is not centerline. Im not sure how much of an issue the crank case ventilation port being faced towards the bottom of the engine would cause either.

The oil cap goes on the front of the engine. The crank case vent will be on top of the engine just on the side of the valve cover instead of the top. If you picture them on the engine, nothing will be facing the bottom of the engine.

I plan on running the oil cap in one, and a K&N screw-in breather in the other. I think it will be something different that nobody else has. I am also going to get the MBA trim kit.

I don't see how the indention is not centerline. Can you please explain further?

On one side. If you have the same cover on both sides, on the drivers side there will be an oil cap at the back of the engine, and a breather right above the temp sensor in the head.

I see what you are saying now. So in theory could I run one of them on the passenger side like normal including the crankcase vent and then the other one reversed? All I would have to do is plug the vent hole correct?

It should work. Im not sure how you would cap off the breather though. I could see that becoming a leaky mess.

Not sure why you think the hole for the CCV is going to be facing down. It won't.

ive had trouble with the K&N breathers leaking a little.. i say contact AZ power and sound and get one of theirs.. they come in a few finishes too (anodized and whatnot)

also, make sure to get the MBA kit for 2 passenger side valve covers.. if you get one of each itll do you no good

So I will be able to run both covers with the CCV facing the top of the motor? I guess that I thought that the covers were offset and could only face one way. Does anybody see any other reasons why these covers should not work?

My other question is if anybody has run into any problems running a breather on the driver side valve cover. Also is there any problems at all running these covers and Comp Cam Pro Mag 1.6 Roller Rockers?

They fit the Comp Pro Magnum rockers just barely. I was considering putting a pass side cover on my driver's side for another breather, but never got around to it. Seems like the only issue is blocking off the extra hole.

Sounds like a plan. Will running a breather make my car run any different?

Not sure, but I did an experiment on my car yesterday to see just that. With the engine at idle, I hooked up the laptop and watched the BLMs and integrators as I removed the oil cap and re-installed it to see if it had any effect. I was expecting to see a little adjustment but didn't notice any.
