LT4 Starter question

(Yes, I have read about 40 or more threads, but none addressed this)

I am going to put a new starter on my 383 built LT1. I looked at Kragen for the LT4 gear reduction starter, and my question is this:

The LT4 version does not have a 'hat' with a bearing support on the flywheel end. Is this required, or is the LT4 gear reduction have enough bearing support inside the starter?

The first link is for the LT1 replacement

This one is the LT4 replacement:

They both have the same long/short bolt pattern. Just want to make sure I got the right gear reduction starter.

Most high torque starters look like the LT4. It should not be an issue. Lots of people use them.

Now THATS a starter. If you had enough juice.... you could probably drive home on that beast!
