LT4 Starter fitment

Hows the fitment on the LT4 starter? My original is on the way out and I'm about to replace it, so I'm most likely going to go with the LT4. I have BBK shorty headers and y-pipe and I was wondering if there's any fitment issues. I read there's a problem with FLP longtubes as well as SLP shorty's, but I just wanted to get some more feedback on it before I drop the money on a new one. Thanks.

I have the SLP headers and it was A DIRECT BOLT IN . Dropped the y-pipe a lil bit to make it easier but I think it coulda been done without it if you remove the flexplate shield.

Re: LT4 Starter fitment

cheaper then an LT1 starter
supposedly a little smaller but i didnt notice much difference in size or weight
and supposedly has more torque too it since the LT4 had higher compression

mine fit nicely, and works awesome

Re: LT4 Starter fitment

Like simple said...it is a higher torque starter. I have 1 on my TA. Hooker LTs and true duals, and a morosso 7 QT oil pan and it fit with NO problems. it is a little smaller in size than the LT1 starter and it is also like 20$ cheaper? I got my from autozone...They gave me a little problem when I returned to the core (but only because the guy behind the counter knew it the dif between a LT1 and a LT4 stater) 99% pf the people dont know so you shouldnt have a problem returning the core...it also sounds cool to

LMAO! Now I'm sold. I'm probably going to be going with a Delco unit as opposed to aftermarket. I work at a Ford dealership and one of our Motorcraft Distributors is also an AC Delco distributor, so I can get it at our delear cost. I think he said $180. Doesn't seem too bad to me.

Re: LT4 Starter fitment

I got lucky , I found mine on ebay , got it for 112 after shipping , someone was cleaning out a stock of new parts stored at a dealership . I looked it up by part number on ebay and it wasnt listed as lt4 but the number matched and it was brand new
