Lots of guys say no, but I did it for one summer (2000 miles) and had no problem. I Installed new valve seals and used the stock hardware. I cant say how much differance it made because i also installed a prem. tune from Madz28. Both together made the car more responsive.

Have Fun.

I just used my stock hardware with the LT4 springs and 1.6RR's. Over the summer it made roughly 40 passes down the 1/4 mile and shifted around 6k rpms for a lot of those without any issues. It also had about 7000 street miles with many shifts over 5500rpms.......I say go for it!

So then all I have to do is buy the lt4 springs and install em? Sounds good! I'll save a lil bit of money then.

Um, the point to the shims is to set the proper spring installed height. You should always check and adjust this dimension when installing new springs.

The reason that you set the spring height is to have the correct seat pressure...if the spring height is too long then you'll have lower seat pressure and could have valve control issues...

It only takes minutes to measure the spring height and install the springs.....

I and ALOT of other people have just installed them. I would not do it if I was doing a cam swap. But where it's just for a 1.6 RR upgrade it "should" be alright. That said if you have access to a spring hight tool use it to check. I did not have one when I installed mine.

Of course it will work that way, it may just not be optimum. If you were building a high revving, high lift engine then you couldn't pass on this step and I wouldn't under any circumstances...but that's me.

For whatever reason the LT4 seats/locaters are listed as shims, they are the exact same part that are already on your LT1 heads.
