LT4 springs
Some guys set all the springs at the same height, which uses the shims because the valves do not all stick up the same amount, especially on reworked heads. This a good baseline but it doesn't guarantee that all the springs will have the same pressure. To acheive that, you have to test each spring individually on a load cell and see what height they make the desired spring pressure, then shim them to that height assuming your clearances are all OK.
But, if I were you, I'd just stick them in at the correct height and you'll be fine. The 1.6rrs + LT4 springs is a GOOD upgrade over stock, especially on an older car with worn out springs.
Thank you I appriciate the info from you and everyone else. This was just a little project to get me started on this car, i was putting new lifters in it and I figured why not put some money in it while I was doing it. It has an AC Delco Reman Short block in it that is suppose to have about 25,000 miles on it. It seems like a pretty strong engine but in the future I wanna drop the engine and rebuild it and add some LE heads and Cam but that's a little farther down the road. It's my daily driver so that's a problem as I'm forced to run my 8mpg dually truck everyday, which happens to be a ford
