lt4 knock module

I just purchased a lt4 knock module, yet i am concerned that if i put it in, it could do damage to my car. How does it ingnore the "knock" in the lt4 and how EXACLTY does it work compared to the lt1 module. Thanks for your help. Nate

The LT4 motor was equipped with roller rockers which supposedly is more noisy than regular rockers....the LT4 KM is designed to "listen" so to speak for loud valvetrain noise or loud exaust noise, such as headers flowing and not to retard the timing under those conditions, the Lt1 KM will retard timing if the slightest bit of knock is heard.

Think of it as a "smarter" knock module. It's better able to figure out what is true knock and what is just "engine noise" (Loud exhaust, loud valvetrain, loud stereo, etc...) You don't really gain any HP from it, it's just you won't pull timing at higher RPMs, when you engine is making the most noise.

the lt4 kn is not as sensitive as the lt1 kn. which means that it will not pick up false knock if you have roller rockers. if you are picking up false nock then that retards the timing and you lose horsepower.

Can you get an LT4 knock module for a 93? I know the computers are different.

Should take you about 5 minutes to put in the KM.

1) Unhook battery.
2) Remove two 10mm bolts holding PCM.
3) Pull PCM out of hole.
4) Remove two bolts holding KM cover on side of PCM and remove cover.
5) Push in side clips on the KM and pull out.
6) Push in new LT4 KM until it clips in.
7) Reverse procedure.

Nope. There is no Knock Module on your '93. If I'm wrong, I apologize, but I'm about 90% certain.

To back up SStupid, 1993s do not have the replaceable knock module.

You're right, you can't put an LT4 KM in a 93, my friend found that out after he bought one.
