Ive been hearing some things about the Lt4 knock module...I kno its kinda like a chip or something from the Lt4 motor, but what does it do? If i switched it with the one that is in my lt1 now woud it run better or gain power? Just courious of what it is and if it would do anything to a lt1. Thanks.

 

People switch to it to get rid of false knock which shows up as knock retard, and the pcm will pull timing from your car thus losing power. I believe the lt4 has a different frequency and isnt as sensitive. Alot of people with LT's or valvetrain upgrades were getting false knock...i'd scan your car to see if you are getting any knock at all, because if not its a waste of money to you.

nope..just gets rid of false knock...i used to think the same things about it b/c a certain dumbass told me he had an LT4 knock module, which makes his lt1 the same as an ls1 .

 

Also the installation of Headers has caused false knock and required the use of this mod.

 

I dont think it caused it on mine.

 

The LT4 module changed the filter circuit to eliminate the noise from the LT4's full-roller rocker arms, to prevent that noise from causing false knock. Whether it will filter out any other noise.... like exhaust noise.... is unproven. If it did happen to filter out other noises, it would be pure "chance".

Scan your PCM for knock retard. If you don't have any knock retard, you don't need the LT4 knock module.
