LT4 knock module

How do you know if you need it/what is it for? And what are the benefits of it?

I see it a lot on here in people's signatures and im wondering why so many people run them. Enlighten me all, just wondering if i should get it if it is worth it or not.

Re: LT4 knock module

An informative link... just ignore the source of the part, since the guy who used to give big discounts at Lambert is no longer there.

Re: LT4 knock module

Thanks a lot, never really knew why people did it. So is it worth it with my mods? He does say that if you are N/A and run 93 octane that you SHOULDN'T have knock... Is that true? I do have pretty loud exhaust and valvetrain noise is louder as well with the 1.6 rr and cam kit.

Re: LT4 knock module

If you have encountered false knock (verified by a scan tool), then you may benefit.

I have an actron super scanner. Would that possibly tell me how much knock retard I am getting? I know that it shows "Ignition Timing Advance (Spark advance to add from base engine timing)" but does that really tell me how much knock retard I am getting?

You should be able to monitor actual occurence of knock counts with a scanner.

I would only try an LT4 KM after you've verified you have a false knock problem. Even then, it may not solve the problem. It might also be worse as it was in my case.

Yeah, i dont have a scanmaster or any scanning tool. Is there a way to find this out without getting one of those things? Like maybe taking it somewhere and they plug my car in and tell me if i have false knock?

Real time monitoring is the only way.
