LT4 Knock Module for 1993?
LT4 Knock Module for 1993?
Can you replace the Knock Module on a 1993? Since the 1993's knock Module is built into the PCM? Would 1.6rr's and LT4 springs set off the LT1 KM? How much does it cost to send my ECM in and get it de-sensitized.

The 1993 ECM has no replaceable knock module.
You can find ways to desensitize the knock sensor with resistors. A search will probably find the info for you. I don't have any links to provide.

Re: LT4 Knock Module for 1993?
Ok well I guess the 1.6 RR;s are out then, after doing some searches its just too much of a pain in the *** to get the 93 KM and desensitizing it is kinda dangerous I guess since it may not pick up real knock. Anyone?
Re: LT4 Knock Module for 1993?
Is it anymore dangerous to desensitize the LT1 knock module then it is to replace it w/ an LT4? Arnt they both doing the same thing? Even w/ it desensitized will it still stop itself from blowing up from knock?
Re: LT4 Knock Module for 1993?
I don't know about loud injectors, but noise from roller rockers and headers have been known to be picked up and (mis-)interpretted as knock (i.e. "false knock").
The LT4 KM was designed to be less sensitive to false knock (the LT4 engine had RR's), but still maintain all the sensitivity to real knock. The knock module acts somewhat like a filter, analysing signals from the knock sensor(s) (on the block), and passing on to the PCM what it perceives as real knock. The LT4 KM is just supposed to be a better, more discriminating filter.

I've got a 93TA with a 383 cube LT1 with a cam similar to the CC306 and crane gold RR's. The roller rockers are pretty loud. I've also got long tube headers. I hardly ever see any knock retard. I see a small amount when going WOT during he initial hit, but it is like 1 degree. Not affect anything. I would say put em on and try it. Datalog it and see if you are getting any and go from there.
