Question LT4 KM necissary?

Im wondering if the LT4 KM will really help me. I have Hooker LT's, custom 3" y-pipe, and flowmaster catback. Ive heard that it will clear up any false knock, but I just hooked up my scanmaster and I have no knock. Even at WOT. When I recall the highest knock value, its 0. Do I really need this. I was planning on replacing it, but wanted to wait till I hooked up the scanmaster so that I could get before and after values. Should I put in the LT4 KM???

BTW, Scanmaster's rule. I dont know how I went so long without one.

How come you wouldn't use it on an OBDI car?

Brent, from what Ive read on the lt1 edit list, the sensor on the OBD1 has a different impedence than that of an ODB2 system. I actually see less knock with the stock module than I did with the lt4 module. Ild like to see some hard data from someone who experinced otherwise. IMO its awaste onf money.

Yes, very true! However, the signal from the knock sensor is evidently modified by the PCM prior to the knock module looking at it and taking action so to speak I've been using the LT4 KM in my OBDI cars for years and I remember when this idea first came out there were about 100 guys who ordered them right then and nobody had issues (a good part being OBDI cars). It may not have helped reduce their knock but the LT4 KM didn't make the PCM increase knock retard.

Im aware of that school of thought Brent, Im just telling you what I observed with Datamaster logs. Heck, I was one of the one who bought into it until I actually got Datamaster and did some testing. Show me it works and that its not an urban legend.

Whatever works for ya! It would be too hard for me to re-create the proof that this worked on my cars other than I too monitor my car with scan tools. There were also I'd guess 100+ people on the f-body mailing list who did this 4 or so years ago who also used scan tools and monitored their results.

I can guarantee you it's not an urban legend. However, if it doesn't work for you for whatever reason then I wouldn't use it either!
