I'm in the process of purchasing heads from AFR. I don't want to debate the head issue (AFR vs. whatever), but I have some questions. AFR told me that I need an LT4 intake to run the 195CC heads. What is the difference between the LT4 and LT1 intake? I called a machine shop and they said there was no difference. I know it has something to do with the ports but I don't know the details. Can someone describe it to me please? Also, can the LT1 intake be ported to match the AFR 195CC heads? Thanks,

 

lt1 and lt4 ports are different...lt1 cannot be machined into an lt4 intake

 

The LT4 intake has more material at the top of the ports, allowing it to be ported to match taller head ports. The LT4 intake is no longer being made, and used ones are costing a premium. You can add material at the top of the LT1 intake to allow it to be matched to tall port heads.

 

Any idea where I can get an LT4 intake?

 

eBay, the for sale forum, friends, relatives, etc... Just expect to pay a premium for one as was mentioned.
