can this kit pass emmisions on an otherwise stock LT1. with the exception of prolly smog legal headers, MSD ignition, custom tune and other small bolt ons? was just wondering. hope someone can share some good info about it. thanks

 

ive heard of them passing emissions before... but with a smog tune.

 

I passed emissions with a dyno tune. Even Fast passed so it sniffed I was really burning clean. Ion did the tuning. I have the LT4 conversion with 30 SVO injectors, shorty headers and msd ignition and a 52mm throttle body. I am running the stock cat.

Yeah, ive got this kit, but only with a pcmforless tune. I am going to do a dyno tune eventually. That should get it to pass no problem.

 

I passed with a 224/230XE cam and that is bigger. You should have no problems. I did get the PCM reprogrammed though.

 

I just passed last week. The only smog equipment I had on the car was a cat. no egr no air pump ect. It passed no problem. I have a pretty agressive tune as well.

You shouldn't have any problems at all. You ought to put it on the dyno before you commit to a dyno tune. Typically there is less than 5hp left on the table.. Thats not quite worth the price of a dyno tune to me.

 

cool. do you think i will have any trouble with my exhaust, because its not a factory type setup. it goes from the intermediate pipe to a 3 inch bullet and then a turndown right before teh axle. will they say anything, and also would they even be able to put the sniffer on there?

 

I passed with the HOTcam kit and ported stock heads no problem. Also had headers with no EGR, no AIR but with a Random Tech catalytic converter and PCMforless tune.
