lt4 hotcam kit

would it be a waste of money for me to buy a hotcam kit and then get a different cam to go with it? or should i just piece all the necessities together to do a cam swap?

Yes, that would be a waste of money...

About the only parts you would end up using are the rockers...

The springs won't support enough lift for practically any other after market cam...

I see it as being a waste, especially depending on what cam you get. Depending what you get, you may end up needing something then the SA rockers as well.

ists a more mild cam than off the wall wild cam. its enough to womp on ls1's though. i was very very impressed with that kit. but then again its more along the lines of a daily driver than a weekend warrior. its a .525 .525 lift cam with 1.6rockers. i love it. but if you want a serious pwer than this isnt the cam, unless you can program the crap out the car and have serious bolts ons. get some head work and you will flat out hall *****.

I'm currently installing that cam and springs (diff. rockers) and personally can't wait man, i am also installing full bolt-ons to tho. I can't wait until that first drive going from completely bone stock to cam+ full-boltons after not driving the car the whole winter and driving a 245k mile f-150 with a staight 6 which at first after driving my Z felt slow as ball sack but the other day i found myself saying "hmm this things pretty torquey" and i thought to myself "self WTF is wrong with you"

so ya.. basically i can't wait.

Its not a push over, it will make some good power and is a great upgrade over stock. Not to mention it will still have really good street manners and not effect MPGs too much.
