LT4 Hot cam question
LT4 Hot cam question
In the LT4 Hot Cam kit, the valve springs are rated to .525 lift. But the lift in kit is to .525.
I was under the assumption that one would want to have some leeway, such as valve springs that could for example go to .540 lift, so as to not to take the valve sping to its max each time (they might wear out faster?).
I bought some LT4 valve springs to install with 1.6's, but will probably install an LT4 hot cam as well.
GMPP obviously knows what they are doing.
Any advice, tips, or suggestions on this. Am I alone or making myself understandable?

Re: LT4 Hot cam question
You'll be fine, the general usually knows what he is doing. There are tons of Hotcam kits out running around, dont worry.
LT4's are rated to .550? I'd like final confirmation on this. Anyone?

Re: LT4 Hot cam question
most places I have seen say the LT4 springs are good to .525" lift. but with all the people that run the hotcam kits GM may have rated them conservatively so people wouldn't try to edge by with them into bigger cams.
