LT4 ED timing set... is it a REQUIREMENT?

Im doing a small cam along the lines of an LT4 HOT cam... think the LT4 piece is overdoing it? Can a stock OE replacement set handle the job? I've heard of the stock pieces coming apart on people. I just dont wanna overdo it this time. I always seem to go overboard with what I do to these damned cars. LOL

Stock timing chain will be fine. If you do a search, you find many people running small cams and even larger cams with the stock timing set.

Stock chain since 1995 running 11s...Freshened the top end last year with a Joe O. cam and replaced the stock chain with a new stock chain...You'll be fine...

Forgive me for imposing on your thread, but I am in the same situation. So if I were to use the XE 224/230 cam., then I should still be okay with a stock replacement set?

I wouldn't use the stock set, but that's just me.
