lt4 conversion or supercharger?

whats the better mod for the money. gm parts... lt4 conversion (425 hp), or a vortech supercharger (about 409 hp). i have a 95 z28 auto(convertible) with about 38000 miles on it. my only mods are hypertech, air foil, moroso intake and slp loudmouth. i also plan on picking up some headers bbk or slp. i just wanted to know what other people are doing and what they like better.

I'd do the LT4 conversion, but for quite a bit cheaper you could do different cam/head work to your LT1. A Lloyd Elliot package or somethin.

Re: lt4 conversion or supercharger?

Get a different head/cam package for the same price and make more power.

Re: lt4 conversion or supercharger?

If your wanting a dirrect answere to your question go with the charger over the LT4 package. If you care for my opinion, go with a strong heads/cam set up with bolt on's. Alot less strain on the motor (unless your going to use small boost) IMO.

Re: lt4 conversion or supercharger?

True. But the iron block can handle the strain. Especially with forged internals, et cetera.

Very true, but I think he's talking about a bolt on motor and not getting into the internals besides the cam.

Yeah, you're right. All that is a little more involved.

That's because he's not talking about "rwHP".... he't talking about the 425flywheelHP that MORE Performance got on the engine dyno with their LT4 conversion. Unfortunately, they failed to mention that they had a bit more than the LT4 conversion on the engine, and were tuning it with a $3,000 aftermarket ECU.

Re: lt4 conversion or supercharger?

Since I want to eventually go with an LT4 setup in my '95 Z, what would be better? An LT4 conversion kit or an actual LT4 Corvette production motor? Or whatever other option would be available.

Re: lt4 conversion or supercharger?

Corvette motor will cost too much. Do the conversion, or do a complete rebuild with stronger pistons and rods. That will still cost less than a Vette motor.

Re: lt4 conversion or supercharger?

Well, I've seen an LT4 on ebay for $3200. From what I've seen, the LT4 conversion kits are close to that price too.

Re: lt4 conversion or supercharger?

give the guys at combination motorsports or one of the other board sponsers a call, and have them ste you up with a nice heads/cam/valvetrain combo for less than the price of the LT4 conversion, make more power too.

Re: lt4 conversion or supercharger?

I'd honestly prefer having an LT4 conversion or motor. I don't know why. I guess to have something different.
