LT4 conversion Dyno

Anyone have a Dyno of a LT4 converision on stock shortblock? For the price an what you get it seems to be a good deal I might consider it but with a better cam.

Its actually not a good deal at all. It doesn't give anywhere near the claimed power, and you can do alot more with your money from someone like Lloyd Elliot. Check it out:

Oh, I disagree! It does give the power claimed if you have the correct supporting mods, I know from personal experience. With that said, opting for one of Lloyds packages is a much better choice. You get more cylinder head for the $$$ and you can get a much bigger cam. LT4 conversion is NOT worth the money unless you really want the LT4 heads for ***** to the wall performance later. And even if that was the case you would be better of with a ported AFR head.

That would be all fine and dandy if anywhere they told you that it needed supporting mods, which they don't. The 425 horsepower number they give was done on an engine dyno with no drivetrain loss and a $3000 custom PCM. So, trust me, it doesn't give the claimed power.

In sumation even the guys that disagree still agree this kit is not worthwhile. Makes a pretty strong point doesn't it. The LT4 stuff is favored only by those who refuse or fail to do research. The LT4 heads can be a good START for a stroker or the like.

Well my tune frome Ed Wright didn't cost $3000, and the supporting mods were Hooker LTs, 58mm TB, ported MAF, CAI, 3" y-pipe, 4" Mufflex, and a 12 bolt w/ 4.11s....pretty indicative of your average bolt ons. Save the BS for someone who HASN'T been there and done it. Re-read my post, I agree there are better ways to spend the money...and SEARCH is your friend!

Look, here's the bottom line:

There's nothing wrong with getting the LT4 conversion kit. HOWEVER, it is NOT the best value available.

If you want to have an "LT4", then there is no substitute for the conversion kit. If you simply want a good bang for the buck, there are better ways; and you can still paint the intake red.

How did you at all argue my point?? Don't come in here and tell me my post is BS when you aren't even relating to my post. Does anyone care what your "supporting mods" are? Or who you got your tune from? Nope!

The topic at hand is that the LT4 kit isn't worth it, and the numbers they give are misleading. I didn't say your tune was 3 grand, so who cares about it man. I was relating to the LT4 kit, and nothing else. I could care less what you've done to your car.

Thumbs down Re: LT4 conversion Dyno

JBird, my post directly related to your because the LT4 conversion WILL in fact make the claimed horsepower. Get a little experience under your belt and then start spouting off about what you know. I prefer to not get into a flame war just because your reading and comprehension skills are lacking.

Re: LT4 conversion Dyno

The LT4 conversion kit CAN make the advertised power with long tubes, supporting bolt-ons and good/dyno tune on the stock PCM.

Worth the cash spent on it? No. (you can get a lot more for the same price)
