LT4 composite valve covers not fitting...Need help fast

Well I thought my LT4 valve covers would just bolt on. Wrong, there is an obstruction somewhere. I think its the thingy that hangs down and it is making contact with the poly-lock is. See pics.

I have a rather high lift cam with Comp pro-mag 1.6R roller rockers.
Anyone ever run into this problem. What do I trim? Gotta wrap this up tonight.

Those are regular 'vette valve covers, not LT4's. The only real difference I have seen between them is those oil splash tabs. The LT4 covers don't have them. You can cut them off alltogether and you'll be fine.

Hope this helps.

I think the difference was just talked about in another thread. This thread shows the real difference, though.

It could be that you are using the tall polylocks, which will definitely interfere. If you are using short polylocks, there should be no problems.

Ended up trimming after making certain those things I am pointing to were the obstruction. Fit great now. I think the real LT4 did not use poly-locks, thats the difference.

So the difference between LT1 and LT4 composite covers is the drop down tabs. Well I may have paid more for these thinking they were LT4 than I should have. Oh well.
Thanks guys.

Seeing that this has not really been talked about much in the past, I have to think that nowadays that some people are passing off normal Corvette valve covers as LT4 covers. Perhaps not intentional and an honest mistake in some cases, but now the masses know the difference.

What's the difference between the LT4 and LT1 valve covers? Are the LT4's taller? Can you get the LT4's from someone like Jason Cromer?

It seems the only difference is in the pictures above. Since they are GM parts, yes you can get them from Jason.

I thought the pics in this thread were of a Corvette cover and a regular LT4 cover, so I guess I'm confused.

You thought right! Don't understand what you are confused about, though.

I had asked about the difference between an LT1 cover and an LT4 cover. Shoebox's answer seemed to imply that one of the covers in this thread is an LT1 cover. If the Corvette cover is an LT1 cover, I guess I'm not confused. Does the absence of those tabs offer more clearance for 1.6 rr's.?
