LT1's and gas mileage...

What does a good running, bone stock LT1 hit on the highway? The best I've done is 250/tank (16.1 MPG) but my gauge is royally screwed so I could have gone more I'm sure.

Just wondering because I'll have to commute ~80miles/day next year and am seriously looking at the turbo 4cyl market....

I just drove from Southwest Florida to New York (I make this trip all the time), and I managed 28 MPG the whole way. I kept the car on cruise control for most of the trip, 75-80 MPH.

Mods in sig - as you can see, it's mostly stock.

Most M6 trans get 24-28 on the highway....Normal speed

4L60/4L60E get around 22-24 on the highway....

Might be time for a tune up...

My 93Z has 130,000+ and I still get 24 MPG if I stay around 70mph...

Well, like I said, my gauge is dumb so it reads like 1/4 tank when I'm really empty (yes, it's happened ) Car runs strong though.

What about turbo 4cyl cars? WRX in particular?

All F-Body car gauges are like that. There's nothing wrong with it - it's just that the gas tank is kinda teardrop shaped. So, when your gauge reads 1/2 of a tank, you really have 1/4, etc.

Right, but I know that 3rd/4th gen tanks interchange. Sorry for the technicality.

The 4th gen gas tank is shaped like a V though.

Ive seen in this thread and another, that people are saying that their gauges are always off and not accurate at all. However, ive found that mine is extremely accurate. When im almost empty, thats what its telling me, when im about half full, thats what its telling me. Ive verified this when I fill up and take note that the gauge is reading half, and I fill up and I put in about 7 gallons of gas. The tank is 15.5 i think, so thats about right, give or take a half gallon here and there, so id say its pretty accurate. however, that is just my experience. And for an answer to this post, i usually get 13-14 mpg city and 16 mpg highway, however I believe I have a clogged cat, which is just killin my mpg.

Well....It does tell you when its close to empty on our cars, it just drops damn fast from 1/2 to empty.
