LT1 w/holley tbi feasability????
LT1 w/holley tbi feasability????
I'm in the process of swapping an LT1 into my 83 TA, and due to customer service issues at lt1wiring(dont ask, not going to bad mouth them), and multiple other obstacles, I have been contemplating the alternatives. I absolutely do NOT want to carb the engine, so I have thought of the following and would like some feedback.
I was thinking of using the Holley 670cfm tbi unit which I can get from a buddy for a hundred bucks, and the wiring system from my 90 Bird with tbi, and using the GM LT1 carb intake with tbi adapter plate.
How do you think this setup would fair. I know the computer from my 90 305 tbi would be junk on the LT1 so I was wondering what the costs would be to get a computer from a 350 tbi engine and have it properly programmed to run the LT1 tbi system. Using tbi would also negate the need for a high pressure fuel pump which helps with cost of build. I would also run a good HEI distributor instead of the opti, but I'd leave the opti in place since later down the road I may want to go back to an LT1 style intake.
Im not planning any drastic power upgrades, just a bigger cam, long tubes and decent Catback, and CAI. I'm thinking the Holley unit with 670cfm should be enough to support these minor mods. I was also looking at the other holley TB's but not sure which would be best for the LT1
And I'm just weighing my options and seeing what can be done here, and what could work, so if your just gonna post to be rude or belittling then grow up and leave the thread. I'd like to hear from those who know what their talking about. Too many people have no respect for TBI and think they need to bash others who want to use it.
