lt1 w/ fuel injection into 74 chevy 4x4

I recently bought a 74 chevy 4x4 that needs a motor and I have a lt1 with all the fuel injection components w/computer sitting in the shop. I was thinking since most people with 4x4 have problems with the carb loading up in a sbc when in rough terrain. I would try to put the lt1 in and see how it works. My first question would this work? Next, what all would I have to do to get it to work? Any and all opinons would be appreciated.

Thanks
Cody

it should work just fine. You are going to have to play around with the PCM and wiring and all that, but everything should work just like it does in an fbody

being it's a 1974, does it still need to be inspected for smog?

its just a matter of splicing the sensor ends into the harness, and programing the computer.

i have an lt1 in my rx7(hence the name..), and also in an '86 gmc short bed....which is for sale if anyone is interested..
