I'm about to embark on an engine re-build..nothing radical just a stout stocker....but was wondering if i was able to come across an inexpensive LT4 heads and intake set up, would i benefit a lot more by ported those heads and intake out rather than porting my LT1 heads and intake out......

 

it is more cost efficent to have your lt1 heads ported. Then to pay for a stock set of lt1 heads.

You can get some great #'s out of a lt1 casting head. I have always read people on here say, is not worth buying stock lt4 heads unless your going to port them.

Do a seatch you'll see what I mean.

To answer your question..... yes, ported LT4 heads/intake will outflow ported LT1 heads/intake. If you can find "inexpensive" LT4 heads/intake, its a good move.

 

Simply put...

LT4 > LT1
ported LT1 > LT4
ported LT4 > ported LT1

For the most part.

Try a search too, bet you come up with some good info.

The '86 GT is gone, and in it's place is a Turbonetics T-76 turbo for my '87 Coupe, for the 351W that's going in that...also picked up a '93 F-250 7.3 diesel...hehe gotta have toys!
