Re: lt1 vs ls1

i would do a search for head and cam packages, headers, tunes and stuff like that there is literally hundreds of ways to make the lt1 faster than an ls1 thats not equally modded, by the way if you havn't noticed this yet any threads that deal with lt1 vs. ls1 usually creates a pretty good ****storm

this is a stall ( torque converter )
http://www.lingenfelter.com/store/yank-2800.html

the only free mod that is any good is a throttle body bypass
do a search about it and u will find alot of info.

Re: lt1 vs ls1

To outrun an LS1 ya got to go bigger on the mods than they do-- case closed--.

Re: lt1 vs ls1

Last ls1 vs. lt1 I checked into, I think it was in general agreement that gears, long tube headers, and some other bolt on stuff would make an lt1 equal to a stock ls1.

Re: lt1 vs ls1

It also depends a lot on the driver. Especially if they are both M6 cars.

Re: lt1 vs ls1

And what year of LS1. 00-02 > 98-99 from what ive seen and heard. Any major mod like h/c, forced induction or nitrous should be complemented with headers and gears for best results. 1.6 roller rockers might be a good idea if you dont want to get a cam IMO.

Re: lt1 vs ls1

All my lt1 had last year was a cai and free mods including a gutted cat. I beat many stock and near stock ls1's, also beat the two bolt on lt1's i ran. I ran with a friends bolt on lt4 car. My car was on stock exhaust manifolds, and had a stock air box when i got it. Idle is stock, i've had the valve covers off to and seen stock rockers. LT1's run good or they dont it all depends on the up keep i quess, mines been ran to **** and has 155k on it, but the whole ignition was replaced.

So pretty much who knows what it will take, start modded and see where you end up. I'de aim a little higher then stock ls1's, high 12's to mid 13's isnt anything to brag about. IMHO.

Re: lt1 vs ls1

look in my signature for a few mods that will put you a bit ahead of them...

okay, there isnt a "free"mod that is going to put you ahead of an ls1. unless you got a friend that is gonna hook you up with a cam or some headers.

speaking of cam and headers, might ought to look into those. headers are gonna cost you some change, but well worth it. look into picking up an LE1 or 2 cam. wont cost you too much and will put you ahead of the (stock) ls1 boys. might end up replacing a few valvetrain components with a new cam. or you can pick up a hotcam kit for a lower price. gears will get you there also. can be picked up for a few hundred bucks. but then will spend another few hundred getting them installed. programming will help also. nitrous will get you there. theres really quite a few options. it just depends on how much money you have to spend on mods. if not, so you got beat by an ls1 car. ive been beaten by worse.
