LT1 vs LS1

I know this has been talked about before, but I couldn't find quite what I am looking for. I know the LS1 has more power. I know there are guys out there who have owned both and I was wondering which one is easier to work on? Not as far as mods, just simple maintenance. If you had your choice which one would you want, LT1 or LS1, and why?

Thanks,
HF

For the most part the Ls1 is easier o work on but they both have there pluses and minuses. The thing I hate most about my lt1 is getting to the distributor granted I can doan opti change in like 45 minutes to an hour but it gets to me sometimes. As far as the ls1 i hate the damn coil pack location and having to take them off and what not. But im used to my Lt1 and dont plan trading it in for ls1 no time soon.

LS1's have been known to burn excessive oil at times.

The way I see it, along with everyone else on these boards, it's cheaper to port your LT1 heads and add a cam than it is to buy a stock LS1. Ported heads/cam on an LT1 will run quicker than a stock LS1 at a fraction of the cost if that's what you're looking for...

They are both a pain in the *** to work on. However, plug changes on an LS1 are much easier than on an LT1.

General maintenance is going to be easier on an LS1 as will most major repairs...just pop the hood on an LT1 and an LS1 side by side and compare the two...however, I will say this, I have read that the LS1 is not as reliable as the LT1 and they are more prone to having a few problems if you drive them hard...at least thats what I gather from my readings...I'd still rather have an LS1 honestly...

it would have been cheaper for me to buy a stock ls1, but i want to go much faster than a stock ls1, i paid 10k for the car, and so far i have $7000 in bolt-ons/heads/cam/tranny and ill have to spend a few thousand more to hit elevens, i think. ill be going to the track next month. i still need a 52/58mm tb, 12 bolt rear in the future, sticky tires, some suspension mods, going fast is not cheap, how fast u wanna go=how much can you spend,
i thought ls1's were harder to work on than lt1's because the block is 2 inches shorter and 2 inches wider, its look like over half the motor is under the cowl, and the lifters are below the heads on the ls1 right?
