LT1's are cheaper to modify. It all depends what you want you end result to be and how much money you are willing to spend.

Pros LT1-better sounding exhaust,better throttle response,cheaper price,a little cheaper parts(thats about it)

Pros LS1-a newer car with all the improvements, have about 50+ more horsepower at the wheels(for same trans)300+(LS1 6spd)compared to around 250(LT1 6spd) and are usually atleast.5 quicker in 1/4. and #1 NO OPTICRAP

course, like was said for the dough you save on an LT1-you could mod it for around $1500 with the right parts (exhaust, tune, cold air, free mods etc.)and its just as quick, but would still have the damn opti

If I had to do it over again, I would have still bought a LT1. I have done about $4000 in work to my car. The other night at the track, I just barely got beat by a LS1 vette. (I ran faster, but he caught me sleeping on the tree.) Having helped buddies with thier LS1's they are a bigger pain to work, on for me. I dont really like the bubble front end either!

What I really like about the LS1 is the spark setup. Still no real fix for us LT1 guys. Something to consider.

LT1's sound oldschool.
My LT1 with a borla cat back on stock manifold sounded like that.
Deep bass sound to it. Best sounding setup I have heard on a 4th gen.

First, LS1. Sweet motor very powerful and a technological wonder.
But, after seeing guys with mods who drive the **** out of their cars I will take my LT1 any day. Bottom line from my personal expierence LS1 needs to stay stock to survive. I know alot of LS1 guys will say I am wrong and hey I might be but my LT1 has 136k on it and still has stock opti, stock WP, and stock alternator, and I drive the livin p**s out of it. I have not seen an LS1 do that yet.
Never had a valve cover off either by the way.
Well, until yesterday when I was puttin on LTs.
