LT1 vs. C5 Corvette

93 Camaro with 98 front end with pace setter shorties, under drive pulleys, and Magnaflow cat back vs. a stock C5 Corvette. pretty close.

good vid, and not to be one of those guys, but the C5 should have smoked the camaro even with those mods. Either the C5 guy can't drive, or that camaro has is an ls1 car.

These videos are next to worthless....who's to say that the C5 wasn't just toying with the guy? I used to hustle with the Shelby all the time like that when the ricers wanted to race.

2001 Z06

Interesting this should come up now. Got a friend who's getting a (stock) 2001 Z06. Do I stand a chance?
I may have Nitto's by the time the race happens too, but with or without em how do you think my car measures up?
I don't expect to beat him, but if I give him a good run I'll be happy.
Edit: not that it makes any significant difference, but dyno numbers were with a bad passenger side header leak and a cracked y-pipe, both of which are gone now. I don't know the numbers on a 2001 Z06 but I imagine they are better than mine and on a lighter car right?

When I was trapping 114mph I raced my friends C5 with intake/catback and we were dead even from 20-135.

Doesn't take all that much of a driver to race from a roll. If the C5 was stock I'd expect it to be even with a mildly moded LT1 unless the C5 was an exceptionally good running one.

With the mods he has that was what I was expecting the outcome to be.

I wouldn't even bother racing that car if I was you. It will EAT you alive. Those cars stock can run mid low 12's on street tires.

Why not race for the fun of it? They are making around the same power to the wheels (maybe more tq in the f-body) but the corvette is lighter.. I would like to see this race.

You think his <300 rwhp LT1 has a chance of even hanging with a Z06? Those cars weigh 3000 lbs, have better gearing/traction, more power, and better areo dynamics. He is going to get WALKED if he races him.

Stock C5 Z01's make in the 345-360 rwhp range depending upon year and individual car. I've not seen one yet that was stock, run low 12's on stock tires. In fact, most run in the low 13's, not low 12's.

I'm treasurer of the Xtreme Corvette club and we used to do the fastest street driven Vette in Texas race every year. All I say is stock low 12 second C5 Z06's never made it to any of our events nor have I seen any run @ Ennis.

A really good driver on street tires can go mid to low 12's in a C5 Z06. Most will go high 12's. If you run on nittos with him on street tires it might be a good race. He would be pulling hard on the top end.
