LT1 V8 conversion for daily use

Hello,

My S15 Jimmy in which I have swapped in a 93 Camaro LT1, is going to see regular use in a couple of months. It currently has no EGR, no AIR, no cats, and non-heated oxygen sensors mounted below the collectors on my headers. The headers, which were required for the V8 conversion, were my reasoning behind removing the EGR and AIR system, since they had no fittings for any of it. Other than that, the engine is for the most part stock.

In an effort to improve a couple of very minor driveability issues, I plan to add cats (most likely of the magnaflow/carsound variety), and convert to heated oxygen sensors. It runs OK right now; Sometimes doesn't like to idle cold, and runs just a tad rough at times. I haven't ruled out a new IAC (the current one has around 90K miles), but figured I'd do what I'm supposed to do first.

Does anyone foresee any driveability issues, or any other negative effects on the parts to be installed? For example, I wouldn't want to ruin oxygen sensors or the cats because of a rich condition due to lack of egr, etc.

Smog testing is not an immediate issue for me right now. Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Question

One more question...

For my heated oxygen sensor conversion, should I stick with a certain sensor, such as that of a 1994 Z28, or will any sensor do? Be that the case, I could just pull the harness off of whatever GM car I can find with heated sensors.

I'm glad you like the truck; I'm thrilled that I'm going to get to spend more time in it (it's currently in storage). The LT1 didn't use the MAF sensor until 1994.

If it helps at all, 94-97 front heated O2 sensors are all the same.

Thats a cool look I have thought about the same setup for a S-10 yr- 95 or 96.
