Hey all, I need some help.. I have a chance to pick up a LT-1 throttle body, with tranny for around $500, I was wondering what these were found in, if it's worth buying to build up, and if i got the casting numbers off the block, if anyone could decode them for me...

Block castings # are all the same on the LT1 (2 bolt & 4 bolt)... Just look for the numbers"327" on the side of the block... The only way to tell if you have a 4 bolt is to drop the pan.....

If it has Alum heads then its from a corvette/4-gen body.. Cast heads are from Impalas....

Then there is the LT4....It came out in '96...

watch out for the L99(265 cid) Its like a baby lt1... NoGood.

Is the LT4 ok to build up.. what's the diff, between a LT4 AND A LT1??? I'm assuming just the upper end (ie heads and intake) but the block is the same right?
