LT1 swap cooling/heat question
LT1 swap cooling/heat question
ok, i put a 95 LT1 in my 92 Z28.
i have no heat at the moment. its tooooo cold for this so i need some advise.
i understand the LT1 is reverse cooled. i am not sure what this means to me really. there are 3 lines off the water pump that are not used right now. i am pretty sure one of those are what i need to hook up to my heater control valve to make the missing link in this equation work.
there is 1 availble on the top passenger side. i had it hooked up to this one, and i had heat until i drove, then i would loose the heat.
there are 2 on the drivers side, 1 top and one bottom. do i use one of these or is there somewhere else i hook up to?
i am useing the stock third gen heater control valve.

Only thing I can tell you is that reverse flow means that the heads are getting cooled first instead of the coolant coming in the lower hose and out the top hose after cooling the engine, then heads like a normal engine. I have no clue on what lines go where, maybe you should meet up with someone with a 4th gen or look at a Haynes or Chilton?
I have a pic of an LT1 WP with the outlets marked..
I can't post but could email it to you..
also a Corvette LT1 pump doesn't have that 'bypass' hose connection[the one from the drivers side WP to lower radiator] like an Fbody one has..
That can help solve the radiator third hose prob..
Charlie
There should be 2 outlets [swaged into the pump, one 3/4" and one 5/8" on psgr side..
That lower drivers side one is the bypass hose dont use that..

this is out of a camaro so is it the same as the vette cooling system?

Not the same the f body has that bypass hose[from lower drivers side WP to lower drivers side radiator...]
The corvette pump doesn't have the bypass hose...
That's sort of why I suggested it.. easier to use for swaps..
The vette motor cooling is the same but it doesn't have/use that bypass hose..
