i want forged and i want to be making 450-550 rwhp
i already have exhaust picked out Hooker long tubes ( dont know what size)(Need someones opinion) into mufflex Y-pipe with QTP elec. cutout and into GMMG chmabered muffler into the 98-02 SS center mout dual tips with rear valance
help me out guys.
ps. i dont want to sell it and just get a z28 bc the car has sentimetal value to me sense it was my first car.

Re: Lt1 swap
more info please...
Are you going to run boost or spray with the motor?
Check supporting venders on this site one is bound to have a killa short block for you to start with. plan for driveline upgrades too... That stock rear isn't going to handle much. What trans do you want? auto or stick?

Re: Lt1 swap
You'll be best off to purchase a wrecked V8 F-body to start off with, then transfer the parts over to your car and do heads/cam after you work the initial bugs out of the conversion.
Go for an LS1!

Re: Lt1 swap
interesting idea
noticed your in south bend im right there too
should be perty nice when your done but a lil info would help out
since you wantto convert to a t56 do you have a manual right now or does it have the 4l60e?
if you have the auto the conversion is probably gonna be your biggest headach
the v8 part shouldnt be too bad
do you have the bmr tubular k-member as well?
if not that should be where you start pick one of those up with the lt1 motor mounts theyre light and you will need a k member any way
as far as blocks
Check out VRE they are in michigan (very close) and are a supporting vendor here and from what ive heard they do stellar work and will be building my next shortblock
then a perty sure fire heads and cam pack is from Lloyd Elliot also in the supporting vendor index
so do you want 450-550 hp all motor or with the small shot
cause if your lookin for the 400rwhp mark that doesnt take too much and the aforementioned vendors should be more than able to help you get there
16grand is a nice budget so i would def say throw some brakes on there cause i know our cars need them
but yeah you should def be able to get that thing goin perty good the whole wrecked car thing is not a bad idea but really if you just grab up a wireing harness and comp the rest of the stuff should be relatively easy to find
and that might save you a few bux over buying a whole wrecked car

Re: Lt1 swap
FryedClutch, thanks for the recommendation.
raz0r6,
We can definately assist you in your project with an engine, assorted parts, or the complete package. We carry a variety of parts for most of the major manufacutures, and with very competitive pricing.
We are currently running a sale on all or short block packages, and we can work out pricing to turn a short block into a long block. Please take a few momentst to browse the engines on our website, and don't hesitate to contact us with any questions.

Converting your car will require at least the following:
Engine, complete and running
Transmission
K-member
trans cross member
drive shaft (the V6 driveshaft is 2 piece)
radiator and hoses
rearend (the v6 rearend is not limited slip and has drum brakes)
front suspension springs (the V6 springs will sag under the extra weight)
dash gauges (the V6 tachometer will not read accurately with the V8)
Fuel lines
engine mounts
Engine wiring harness with PCM
ANd a ton of other random pieces that will nickle and dime you to death.
