LT1 setup questions
LT1 setup questions
My brother is putting an lt1 in his 89 formula and he needs some advise on some things. first off his setup is a stock 114,000 mile short block from a caprice, home ported and polished cast iron heads and 2.02 1.60 swirl polished and undercut valves.
Hes got the cc502 cam; intake lift .495 exhaust lift .503, duration @.050 intake 218 exhaust 224, lobe seperation 112. And 1.6 roller rockers.
and a factory port matched intake.
what he is wondering is what size throttle body to run what size injectors to run and what kind of tunnig setup is the best/most popular from cables to softwear (he wants to learn how to tune his car).
Thank you for any help!

This may be a stupid question, but you are talking about the 5.7 liter LT1 and not the baby LT1 sometimes found in Caprices, right?
A 52mm throttle body will suffice as will 30lb injectors. You may want to go bigger on the injector for future mods as the injector size can be programmed into the PCM. Is the car OBD-1 or 2? OBD-1 is generally preferred and OBD-2 cars can be converted to OBD-1. There are many good tuning applications out there - LT1Edit, TunerCat are a couple. Also you should use a datalogging application such as TTS' Datamaster. Also AKM Cables makes good cables for tuning. Hope this helps...

Yes the 5.7.
good, we were thinking a 52mm and 30lb injectors were the right chocie but just wasn't sure.
It is an 0BD-1 car. Do you suggest any places to buy the cables and softwear?
The pcm is 94 I belive.
Also we plan on starting the car on stock injectors and throttle body is that a good idea? should we look out for something?
Thanks for the replies
any ideas on what this motor will spin to or what the output might be?
