LT1 Scanmaster Install

Just got my scanmaster in the mail today. I'm planning on installing it in the a/c vent. I've got the instrutions from online and they don't look too difficult. What i would like to know is how long did it take your guys to install it yourselfs in the vent, is it a fairly easy and smooth install? Any precautions or anything i shoud know before i rip my dash apart. Thanks in advance

sounds like we have similar setups.

It took me a couple of hours to install, it's very straightforward and Brents instructions are very good, Just take your time.

I fitted a spade end to the white(grey) wire and insert that into my ecm plug, that way when I program my car or log a run I have to remove it, some folks hardwire it in but the scanmaster and other logging software can not be run simultaneously, so either put in a switch or a spade bit on the wire to the ecm plug.

Took me a couple hours, I was aided in that I already took the dash apart once to transplant my stereo from my old Suburban into the Z28. IMO, I'd get a friend to keep you company while you work.

Also I'd use a bit of electrical tape around the Scanmaster and where you put it, there was a light back there and it seeped through past the Scanmaster. It bugged me so I taped up all the places I saw light coming through from behind the dash.

i would recommend you get a plug in connector for your car from akmcables. I think it was only like 10 bucks then you don't have to butcher your wiring and you can unplug it when you need to tune.
