LT1 runs too hot, ideas?

Did a rad clean and flush, have a 180* thermo and the Hypertech set for that, but it still seems to run hot, usually over the 1/2 way mark. Any ideas ?

( would rather not install a 160* thermo as it will never heat up in the car )

When do the fans come one?

Have you tested the accuracy of your temperature sensor/gauge?

for those of use who don't know what "half way" is on your guage...enlighten us.

but have you considered your water pump may be on the way out??

a 180 stat should yield a 190-195 operating range...depending on outside air temp.

could also be the heater core is just blocked. I did a system flush, and it didnt completely clean out the heater core, which kept the car running 190+ average, replaced the heater core, and its back to normal
