my friends got a 97 t/a m6..110kmiles custom grind cam..all boltons stock fuel pump and everything. when you first start it up it pretty much dies unless you hold the pedal at like 2k rpms for a minute or two. then its fine by itself? fuel pump? also if you turn the ac on it smells almost like burnt radiator fluid?

Could be the fuel pressure regulator, and possibly a bad heater core.

 

the heater core we replaced and that got rid of the smell.. the startings still an issue though..

 

check the fuel presure with the car on then shut it off and wait a few hours and see if it drops.
