lt1 question

i just replaced the cap and rotor its all new but after that i drove it and the water pump went so i replaced it and put new gaskets on wiped off everything including the cap and rotor my question is although the cap and rotor is new and i just replaced the water pump can the cap and rotor still go bad even though its new?

It's hit or miss. I wouldn't worry about it though. It's not as fragile as many make it out to be, when it comes to getting wet.

It should be good if you caught it right away. Moisture really has to soak in to start arcing inside the cap. I would open it up and make sure it's dry on the inside, just to make sure.

Water isn't too much of a problem but antifreeze is. I'd recommend removing and cleaning it inside and out and then saturating it WD-40 or CRC 5-56. Then it'll be as good as it can be.....
