ok.. I was driving the other day I downshifted to third and passed a truck. When I did It sounded like I Hit my rev limiter then my car just shut off.. It was sunny and dry out and I had driven abou 30 miles before it happened...

Its throwing code p0100 and thats it.

when I try to start it, It will just sputter and die, any ideas?

I don't just want to go throwing parts into it..

 

See if you have power to the MAF on the pink wire when the key is ON.

 

would my Maf be causing this? I unhooked it, shouldn't it run in Speed density mode? It doesn't change the way it "runs"

 

I had a buddy of mine with the same problem. His was getting the same code u are getting,so i swaped maf with mine same thing. Well to make a long story short i checked his fuel pressure, and it read 10Lb. at idle. Changed pump and problem solved. hope this helps u out.

I thought you said it did not run? P0100 is a MAF code. You don't have to check it if you don't want to. Good luck.

 

lol it doesn't exaclty "run" thats why the quotation marks, I'm referring to the way it sputters and dies..

 

My buddy and I think it might be the timing chain, it cranks easy but then sounds like it misfires then it dies, I'm checking the fuel pressure today.

I had the same code come up all the time...P0100. It ended up being my harness going to my MAF. I bought a new one, spiced it in, and all is good What helped me diagnose it is try wiggling the wires if you can get the car running. If it ends up sputtering, or almost dieing then replace that harness!

 

I'm guessing I spun the opti rotor, Since it has spark and fuel, So I'm gonna replace that sometime next week.

Fuel Pressure ok, Brand new opti, have spark. could the coil be bad? wires?
