lt1 plug wires
lt1 plug wires
Im a new member and need some help with picking the right set of wires. which is a good brand that will last and cost effective? Im not sure if this info is needed but the car is a 93 lt1 camaro. the engine is from a caprise but not sure what year(i put on heads from 95 vette). im using all 93 wiring and computer with a jet chip. this will be the third set of wires and i want them to last this time. Also what is the best way to route them(plan on adding headers later on). thanks in advance for all your help!
You can successfully run wires in the stock location using zip ties to tighten the wires along the side of the and around the accessory bracket. You will be suprised what 2 bucks for a bag of zip ties will help you out. I burnt my first set without using them and never had an issue since in about 4 years. Otherwise i would recommend the OTVC (Over the valve cover) wire set which you can purchase over on Thunder Racing's site. Also helps to run the protective plug wire boots which can with stand the high heat temps and not burn your wires which im sure are affordable insurance too.
If I understand correctly, you have an LT1 engine out of a Caprice, installed in an F-Body. You are running stock (F-Body???) manifolds. You have had problems with two sets of wires so far.
Are the wires burning up on the headers? Or is it something else happening to them?
The factory wires will work well with the factory manifolds, seldom causing burnt wire problems. There are sometimes problems with the metal boot covers, if you are using them (???)

I saw this a bit late, but I've had great success with Taylor 8mm spiro pros over the years. I think they cost a bit less than the MSD's if I recall. Now I'm moving on to the Taylor 10.4mm for my LS1 coil swap, due to recommendations from other members. Just my two cents. Good luck!
