LT1 performance questions?

My friend has a 97 Z28 auto. I think it's a little on the doggy side of performance. With Borla, CAI, 3.73's, and hypertech he ran 8.9@77-78mph 1/8 1.9 60' He put on hooker longtube headers with offroad y-pipe and new plugs and wires, Nitto 555R's, and got it tuned to not be rich from the headers. He ran 8.6-8.7@80-80.5mph 1/8 1.9-2.0 60'. Isnt this a little slow for these mods? Why would his car be making less power for these mods? Is this a dog year? It has 118,000 miles on it btw

I dont know if those are good times for 1/8 mile, but you could try running it without the hypertech. That may be the culprit. Those things are the devil. See if there is a difference with out it. He should get the car dynoed. It'll set you back $75 but you could easily see if it is *******.

I am guessing that this is a 1/8 track also, since no full quarter times were mentioned?
He has Nitto 555R's his car, he didn't really spin street tires much he can't spin his DR's without a break torque. So your saying this a good time for a auto LT1 with his mods? And yes this is a 1/8 mile track.

It doesn't have hypertech anymore when the headers were put on tuning was done by LT1 edit

When it just had Borla, CAI, and 2.73's it only ran 9.3-9.4@76-77mph 1/8 and it only had 2.3-2.3 60's but he wasn't spinning

btw Any idea what a auto Lt1 should run with his mods?
mods- Borla, CAI, 3.73's, hooker longtube headers, offroad y-pipe, Nitto 555R's, and it's tuned

He needs a nice stall to go with those gears. To make his auto perform better.

His 8.9@78mph for the CAI and the Borla is roughly equivalent to 13.8@98mph in the 1/4-mile. That wouldn't seem unreasonable, or weak for a car with 118,000 miles, in need of plugs and wires.

After the LT's, his 8.6@80.5mph is roughly a 13.3@101.5mph... again, not a bad gain with the LT's. 1/2-second on the ET and 3.5mph.

I think he might pull another couple MPH out of it with those mods. I agree.... the HPP "power tuning" has been demonstrated to lose HP. And who knows how good the LT1_Edit progarmming is?
